Storage Belmont Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Belmont is taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Belmont is committed to conducting business in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner, and we recognise our responsibility to identify, prevent and address any risks of modern slavery.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Belmont adopts a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business, individual or organisation involved in these practices. This commitment applies to all parts of our operations, including the sourcing of goods, the engagement of contractors, and the selection and management of service providers.
All employees, managers, directors and contractors are expected to uphold this policy and act in accordance with our values. We require our suppliers and business partners to share this commitment and to ensure that modern slavery has no place in their operations or supply chains.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Storage Belmont recognises that the greatest risk of modern slavery typically lies within complex supply chains. We therefore take a risk-based approach to assessing and monitoring our suppliers, prioritising those operating in sectors, regions or activities that present a higher risk of labour exploitation.
We aim to work only with suppliers who can demonstrate sound labour practices and compliance with relevant legislation. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we assess labour standards, working conditions, and recruitment practices. Where appropriate, we require suppliers to confirm that they have policies and controls in place to prevent modern slavery.
We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, either directly or through independent third parties. These audits may include site visits, document reviews and discussions with management and workers to verify compliance with our standards. If evidence of modern slavery or serious labour abuses is found, we will take immediate corrective action. This may include requiring a remedial plan, suspending orders, or terminating the relationship where appropriate.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks within our organisation. Key personnel involved in procurement, facilities management and contractor engagement receive guidance on identifying warning signs of exploitation and on following our reporting procedures.
Managers are responsible for promoting a culture of integrity and for ensuring that modern slavery considerations are embedded in decision-making. All employees are expected to remain vigilant, challenge unethical practices, and report any concerns without delay.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Belmont encourages anyone who becomes aware of, or suspects, modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains to raise their concerns. Concerns may relate to workers being controlled, intimidated, underpaid, deprived of freedom of movement, or recruited through deceptive or coercive practices.
Employees can report concerns directly to their line manager or to senior management. Concerns can also be raised through our internal whistleblowing channels, which allow individuals to report issues in confidence. We will investigate all reports promptly and sensitively, and we will not tolerate any form of retaliation against a person who raises a concern in good faith.
Where appropriate, we may report suspected modern slavery to relevant authorities and cooperate fully with any investigations.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Storage Belmont is committed to continuous improvement in our approach, including strengthening our policies, enhancing supplier engagement and improving the effectiveness of our risk assessments.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with evolving legal requirements and best practice. The review will consider any incidents reported, audit outcomes, supplier feedback and changes in our operations or supply chains.
Following each annual review, we will update our procedures as necessary, refine our training and communication, and set clear priorities for the coming year. By doing so, Storage Belmont aims to minimise the risk of modern slavery and contribute to safer, fairer working conditions for all those connected to our business.
